Myrtle Crest had an end of the year assembly today. The assembly focused on summer activities that keep you active, learning and having fun! The Coos County Fair and Rodeo queen came to speak about her busy summer plans and duties as a queen. She brought her horse and all of the students were able to pet him and say hello. Thank you Natalie Wilson for inspiring our youth! We can't wait to come see you at the fair this summer.

This week a group of our Myrtle Point High School students visited the Myrtle Point Fire Department to explore exciting career opportunities in emergency services. Students learned firsthand what it takes to be a first responder and the critical role they play in our community. We’re excited to share that juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to apply for career internship with the Myrtle Point Fire Department. This hands-on experience is a great way for students to gain valuable skills and explore potential career paths. A huge thank you to the MPFD for welcoming our students and inspiring the next generation of first responders!

From the Desk of Steve Perkins Tuesday, May 13th The school year is winding down. We have several upcoming events in the district. First and foremost, Myrtle Point High School Graduation is on Saturday, June 7th @ 2pm at the high school football field. It will be an outside event weather permitting. You can check the district website or Facebook page for events at each school. The baseball, softball and track seasons are winding down. The last baseball and softball games are scheduled for this Friday, May 16th at home. The baseball team is currently tied for first place in the league. They should potentially host a playoff game. Date and time to be determined. Track has their district meet @ Illinois Valley High School on Friday, May 23rd. The boy’s 400 meter relay team recently broke a long-standing Myrtle Point record. Good luck to all of our spring sports teams. We are very excited to announce that that Maple Middle School has received a 2.5 million dollar Oregon State Seismic Retrofit grant. This project will tentatively be scheduled for the summer of 2026. Important dates: No School on Friday, May 23rd. Graduation on Saturday, June 7th @ 2pm. There will be a two-hour early release on Thursday, June 12th. This means busses will run two hours early. This is the last day of school for students. Steve Perkins
