Staff Spotlight: Cynthia Highley. What brought you to this job? I have a heart for those who have special needs. What are you looking forward to this school year? Understanding what my job entails and how best to do it. What is something you enjoy - that makes your life rewarding? Working with children. How do you spend your time outside of work? Gardening. Share some facts about yourself: Moderate-Severe Special needs teacher. Favorites: purple, hazelnut latte, Sees candy, my six adult children, my three German Shepherds, and my little Yorkie.

Staff Spotlight: Deena Jackson, Title 1 Instructional Assistant at Myrtle Crest. What brought you to this job? I really enjoy working with kids and my friends talked me into applying. What are you looking forward to this school year? Learning the kids’ names. I'm so bad with that so I’m looking forward to the challenge. What is something you enjoy - that makes your life rewarding? Seeing the kids grow and learn as I learn with them. How do you spend your time outside of work? With my pets , gardening, and with friends. Share some facts about yourself: I love my animals. Sunflowers are my favorite flower. I've worked many years in my family business in fair food concessions.

Emily Howell and daughter CharleyWhat brought you to this job? I always knew I wanted to work with kids but my 3rd grade teacher inspired me to become a teacher. It was the best year I had in school and I can still remember being in that classroom. When I moved to Oregon in 2017, I started out teaching Pre-K and it gave me the confidence to move onto an upper grade. What are you looking forward to this school year? Getting to share 4th grade with my daughter (also in 4th grade), and I am so excited to be part of the Bobcat nation! Looking forward to getting to know my students and their families. What is something you enjoy - that makes your life rewarding? I love teaching children and watching them grow through the school year. It is so fun to watch their learning blossom, as well as their personalities. How do you spend your time outside of work? I love to hike and kayak with my family (husband Jeremy and daughter Charley), play with my 2 dogs (Murphy and Daisy), and work on my property with my garden, chickens and goats. We bought property in Chiloquin, OR, and are working to fix it up for the future. Share some facts about yourself: I love coffee; my first job was a gift wrapper at a department store; I got to travel the world in 2010; and llama's are my favorite animal despite not owning one...yet!

Friday Night Football, reading, knitting, spending time with friends and family. Share some facts about yourself: Mrs. Sproul and I ran a half marathon together. I graduated from Myrtle Point. I love spending time with my kids outdoors.
