Staff Spotlight: Eva Williams

Staff Spotlight: Eva Williams & Family, Title 1 Teacher at Myrtle Crest. What brought you to this job? I’ve thought about being a teacher most of my life and I wanted summers off to spend time with my kids. I originally wanted to be a 6th-grade math teacher, but started working as an Instructional Assistant helping students learn life skills. I've always loved helping others and had a great rapport with the students, so I felt like the right fit. I was told by the people I worked with that I would make a great special education teacher, so that's where I ended up. What are you looking forward to this school year? Having a motivated and enthusiastic staff. What is something you enjoy - that makes your life rewarding? When the students look forward to coming to my classroom and don't want to miss it. How do you spend your time outside of work? I love to cook. I make new dishes using whatever I have in the refrigerator or trying to copy something I liked when I ate out. I like that my children have their friends over to our house for hanging out and sleepovers - the more the merrier, especially when we do group activities like board games, watching movies, jumping on the trampoline, or going to the field or fairgrounds to practice sports. I love long brisk walks, hikes and strolling on the beaches. I love crabbing in the bay and fishing in lakes. Share some facts about yourself: I am first generation French and was a sous chef at my mother's French restaurant in Coquille for many years. I am retired Air Force Reserve with 25 years of service and 3 deployments in the Middle East. I have was a Human Resources manager, Computer Specialist and a Rural Postal Carrier before becoming a wife, mother and teacher. I was nominated for Teacher of the Year while working at Marshfield High School.
