Whats Brewing for Lunch Collage

October 10th  through the 14th , we celebrate National School Lunch Week! NSLW shines the spotlight on food services staff, programs, and the nutritious food served every day throughout the school year. MPSD not only serves lunch but breakfast and sack supper at both Myrtle Crest and the High School. This September alone, our amazing Food Services crew served 15,950 meals! WOW!

For October, our wonderful cafeteria staff (Left to Right: Jaime Workman, Alyssa Firkus, Melody Kenyon, Jaimie Blanton, and Billie Hurt) have decorated the kitchen and cafeteria with a fun filled Halloween theme! Staff and students alike have delighted in the decoration of the space, and stay tuned later this month for our annual pumpkin decorating contest!

Check out the smiling faces as our students get their trays loaded up with nutritious and tasty meals, often cooked from scratch! Students at Myrtle Crest always have a choice of two main dishes, and at the High School they can grab an option from our “Grab and Go” including salads, sandwiches, subs, wraps, or enjoy the hot meal of the day.

Its not just the kitchen working hard to keeping everything running, but our Facilities staff as well! Our Maintenance Technician, Dan Firkus (above), has subbed in for our regular custodian this week cleaning and sanitizing tables. Even our Technology Director was spotted in the cafeteria this week, wash cloth in hand!

Our staff have also enjoyed visiting the cafeteria this week. Kari Seals (above) our Administrative Secretary enjoyed a meal earlier this week with her grandson Daniel! Our SPED Director and Interim Superintendent Kathleen Stauff (below) enjoys a meal with our Kindergarten class. Many of our Board of Directors also dined in our cafeteria this week.

What was for lunch today? A delicious home cooked taco soup, garlic bread, salad with bell pepper and tomato, apple sauce, and fresh cantaloupe and pineapple.

We hope you enjoyed it Thomas, I know that I did!

A big thank you to our wonderful Food Services staff for all of your hard work, and for keeping our students fed during the school day.
