Emily Howell and daughter

What brought you to this job?

I always knew I wanted to work with kids but my 3rd-grade teacher inspired me to become a teacher. It was the best year I had in school and I can still remember being in that classroom. When I moved to Oregon in 2017, I started out teaching Pre-K and it gave me the confidence to move onto an upper grade.

What are you looking forward to this school year?

Getting to share 4th grade with my daughter (also in 4th grade), and I am so excited to be part of the Bobcat nation! Looking forward to getting to know my students and their families.

What is something you enjoy - that makes your life rewarding?

I love teaching children and watching them grow through the school year. It is so fun to watch their learning blossom, as well as their personalities.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I love to hike and kayak with my family (husband Jeremy and daughter Charley), play with my 2 dogs (Murphy and Daisy), and work on my property with my garden, chickens and goats. We bought property in Chiloquin, OR, and are working to fix it up for the future.

Share some facts about yourself:

I love coffee; my first job was a gift wrapper at a department store; I got to travel the world in 2010; and llama's are my favorite animal despite not owning one...yet!
